Bones need exercise
“When it comes to bones we know exercise can benefit people throughout their life – by growing bigger stronger bones in childhood, improving bones throughout adulthood and preventing falls that can lead to fracture as we age.”
Professor Belinda Beck
Director, The Bone Clinic

Not all exercise is created equal
But not all exercise is effective. Research has demonstrated that only certain types of exercise improve bone health. Onero (TM) is an osteoporosis treatment based on exercise designed specifically to prevent osteoporotic fracture by stimulating bone development and preventing falls in at-risk individuals.
“Just by chance I came by an article on The Bone Clinic and the wonderful news that women are increasing their bone density. I came in for an appointment and have been coming for 12 months. I’ve regained muscle, strength and balance. It has given me a new lease of life. My bone density improved by 5% in the spine and 8% in my hip!”

About Onero
Onero was created in Australia and based on the LIFTMOR Study in which people were able to increase bone density and quality by performing this specific exercise program. To find out more about Onero (TM) click here to see a great explainer video on the Onero (TM) program and how it can:
- increase bone density;
- strengthen muscle; and
- reduce the risk of falls.
Onero (TM) and Us
To be safe and effective the program must be supervised by a physiotherapist or accredited exercise physiologist who is trained and Licensed to deliver the program. Our Clinic is now Licensed to deliver Onero (TM) to our clients with or at risk of osteoporosis. Onero (TM) is appropriate for adults of any age wishing to reduce their risk of osteoporotic fracture.
One of the great features of Onero (TM) is that you don’t need to exercise five days of the week. Research has found that just twice a week is enough to stimulate bone, improve muscle and help prevent falls. In fact, the original research that underpins Onero (TM) included only 1 hour of exercise a week.

In-Network with Insurance
Onero is delivered by a physical therapist and constitutes medically necessary physical therapy to treat osteoporosis or osteopenia. This therapy should be covered initially by your insurance for 4-12 weeks, depending on your individual case.
After physical therapy, we recommend you transition into our group exercise Onero class which will continue to be supervised by a physical therapist.
